Royally mad at FEMA and 8% interest rate

Talked to my son just now. He says that the place where he works has just hired a transplant from the state of LA. Like many others he too has lost everything and is trying to start over again. But here is the kick in the pants: FEMA told him that that he was eligable for loans to rebuild the house at 8% interest! 8%!!! That is unbelievable!!! The going rate is so much lower. How will anyone on a fixed income or in the lower pay scales be able to rebuild.

But wait, it gets better!!! Rumor has it that the insurance companies are only going to pay something like 10% of your home's value and/or your property. There is no way anyone can get back on their feet with that pittance. Seems like every big business is out to screw the little guy. This is so unbelievable.

I am so pissed! I can not believe that this is going to happen. When they talk of rebuilding New Orleans are they going to be talking about "the right kind of people" that they will build for? Will New Orleans and the surrounding areas be built for their enjoyment only? Will it become the playground for the rich? And just where will the displaced people go, the ones who are not the "right kind?"

Here is a perfect example of Republicans screwing the little guy again. Grandma was right when the Republicans get in the rich get richer. This country is now so screwed. We have a deficit of 314 billion dollars and no one is complaining about it...how are we going to pay that plus Katrina's destruction and that stupid war in Iraq? Something has to give, but sadly it will be me and the other "little" guys in this country to foot the bill for the stupid mistakes that this government has made.

Yes, I'm on a rant...I'm tired of this, I'm tired of the White House trying to put a positive spin on their lack of response in the early morning hours of Katrina's destruction. I'm mad at the White House for going after anyone who complains about them by calling them names, starting smear campaigns to deflect the truth away from them. I have had it and am not going to take it anymore...I'm going to spread this new information with some newspapers and tv stations and see where it goes.
